First of all, I would like to thank you for visiting this website. This website is created in the purpose of helping to promote and to introduce Cambodia to others. However, I alone can not handle this so what I want here is Team Work.

    I see a free hosting which looks nice for personal site.

    Website : http://www.awardspace.com
    Web Space : 200 MB
    Bandwidth : 5 GB
    Domain Hosted : 2
    MySQL DB : 1
    DB Size : 10 MB
    Limit : 500 KB Max Size
    NO ADs

    It is just a little bit small, but pretty an excellent option for personal use. 200 MB is enough for your personal photoes and more. 1 DB means you use 1 web application such as Joomla, SMF, WordPress, ….
    For file size limit, it doesn’t really matter. 500 KB is pretty large.

    Additionally, if you have your own registered DOMAIN, you can point there (MAX = 2). But with only 1 DB, your other 1 domain can’t contain DB (can’t use web application).

    My website is http://www.khmersite.info
    Domain name was registered at godaddy.com with $1.69/yr.
    Domain hosting is at awardspace.com for FREE.

    I think it is an excellent option for who don’t want to spend so much on hosting coz you can register 2 free hosting accounts with different email.

    hey that is nice… you can try. but make sure that u back up ur content daily or weekly… cuz free hosting sometimes ur content loses with no reason. got it?

    Actually, I have hosted it there around 1 year already, but with only subdomain (wdforum.awardspace.com). Just now that I have my own registered domain to point to the hosting there.

    All the time I have hosted there as subdomain, it worked fine. Hmmm, of course, it is really great for new learners to try.

    Now I have found a comparison in FREE and PAID hosting on that site. The difference is mainly on SIZE ( space size, file size, SQL number, SQL DB size) and NO DATA BACKUP for FREE account.
    You are right that we have to backup regularly or only when we make changes to website just in case the server is down. I don’t think the server automatically delete our file, except when accident happens.
    For the reason that I say this, it is because I have created 2 free account on that site for over 1 year without any change or visit. But when I go back to it recently, they both are still there. But only I myself lost 1 account password and can’t log in.
    Most importantly, I suggest for most IT students who want to find a free hosting for themselves have a look at there. When I was in university, I found many free hosting sites but no one was as good as this one because they allowed only static page, but this one provides more space with dynamic page (SQL) and you can point your own domain name there as well (*.info only 1.69$ now at godaddy.com; thanks TinFii for telling me about it).

    Yes………….Free hosting is very good for students who are in IT or non-IT related domain to test or learning the features inside but it’s not good for employers to make online business or store a large data for a long-term on the internet. :p
